High end grocery stores pelt DFW

Email Print Tell us your story Comments (3)

A new Central Market at the Shops of Southlake opens grandly today, and a Whole Foods opens on Preston Road and Forest Lane in Dallas with a freakin' spa.

A press release states that the Southlake grand opening "will include a Texas-sized, jaw-dropping motorized shopping cart appropriate to the store's larger-than-life reputation." I think I saw one of those at a monster truck show many years ago that scared the hell out of me.

Ruthless. Savage. Spectacular. Shopping cart robots that breathe fire are a necessary tool in today's cutthroat world of giant fancy grocery stores.

More of these stores are on the way in the next few years. The Great Grocery Snot Wars have begun.

There is a good discussion about the new Whole Foods happening on the Urban Forum

It turns out that the "Texas-sized, jaw-dropping motorized shopping cart" that they're going to unleash at the store is not a Truck-A-Saurus lookalike (Pictured above).

Here's what it really looks like...

Turns out Blair wasn't that far off with his assumption on the cart's appearance. The real deal also looks like it could also potentially show up at a monster truck show just as Truck-A-Saurus does.
