Vicki Truitt retracts blogger libel bill

Email Print Tell us your story Comments (3)

By way the of Star Telegram, it seems State Representative Vicki Truitt has doubled back on her attempt to introduce a blogger libel bill for the next legislature:

It turns out Truitt had meant to file a much narrower bill that was not directed at bloggers. She now plans to enter substitute language in January.

Truitt said the bill was meant to give people legal recourse if posted data led to identity theft.

But the allegations that bloggers have hurled at Truitt, ranging from personal attacks to vulgar rants, will apparently live online for some time.

They will 'live online' forever, to be precise. Such is consequence of poking the hornet's nest that is the blogosphere.
