Senior Carroll Dragon swimmer Caitlin Baran has qualified for the 2008 USA Olympic Trials in the 200-meter breaststroke. This is a first in Carroll swim history.
Caitlin swam a 2:35:82, beating the qualifying time of 2:35:99 at the Toyota Grand Prix Swim Meet in Santa Clara, California, May 16. In the Finals, she even bettered her time, swimming a 2:35:09.
Among her many accomplishments, Caitlin is a four-year high school All-American and has been a three-time individual Texas State high school qualifier in the 100-meter breaststroke and the 200-meter individual medley. Caitlin has been a member of an All-American high school relay team during her career as a Dragon swimmer and serves as a senior team captain. She's also a National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA) Academic All-American.
Caitlin will attend Princeton University in the fall where she will continue swimming. She is coached by Dragon swim team coach Kevin Murphy.
