Ferre at Dallas’ West Village to become Alberto Lombardi Italian seafood restaurant

DALLAS — Restaurateur Alberto Lombardi will take over the space occupied by Ferre Restaurant in Dallas' West Village to open a new "Italian seafood concept" in May, says his publicist.
A manager at Ferre confirmed that owner Patrick Colombo was "in the middle of negotiations", citing the fierce competition in the West Village area as one incentive to get the hell out of Dodge, but emphasized that the Fort Worth branch of Ferre will remain open. The closure will not affect Cru, the successful wine bar also owned by Colombo, located next-door to the Ferre in West Village. Colombo also owns Victory Tavern in Victory Plaza and operates Steel in Oak Lawn.
Lombardi currently has four restaurants clustered in the nearby Knox Henderson district: Taverna, Toulouse, Sangria, and the recently opened La Cubanita.
This would not be Lombardi's first seafood place; in the mid-'90s, he had Lombardi Mare, in the Village on the Parkway at Belt Line and the Tollway, in the space most recently occupied by the ill-fated Vue.

This is clearly an end-run to the south that the The Republic Of Tristanistan could not have reckoned with. Will they, in turn, have to scurry to set up camp in a revived Lakewood Village outpost?
