Dallas-based Pizza Hut launches silly campaign to draw attention to pasta dishes

Dallas-based Pizza Hut is going to temporarily change its name to "Pasta Hut" next week, even to the point of changing the logo at its headquarters. The official announcement of the "name change" will take place on April 1. Hee hee haw haw.

The company is introducing a new "Tuscani Pasta" line that seems just as refined and tasty as its pizzas. To wit: They'll consist of 3-pound servings of dishes such as chicken Alfredo and "meaty marinara," costing $11.99 and available for dine-in or delivery beginning Sunday.

The pasta campaign is being launched because Pizza Hut's pizza sales are slumping. According to the DMN, pizza chains are adding pasta, chicken wings, soy hot dogs, anything to boost sagging sales.

Look forward to an "extensive advertising campaign" undoubtedly featuring closeups of steaming piles of lasagna with oozing pockets of tomato sauce and long, elastic strings of melted cheese. Mmmm.

There was a time that eating fast food meant catching that wascually wabbit. Sagging sales...Maybe people are getting tired of eating preservative laden, low quality food on the fly and opting for a wholesome home-cooked meal...nahhhh....their down the street throwing their hard earned buck at someone's dollar menu for a quick fix...

Doesn't it cost these jerks less than a dollar to make pizzas? Charging over $10 for them is why sales are slumping, jfc.

I'd sooner rock the $1 personal pizza from the supermarket. Takes 20 mins to preheat the oven and bake it, no different than waiting 45 mins for delivery - I'm still stuffing dough, tomato sauce, and cheese down my maw that will take a few years off my life.

Nonetheless, makes me lol every time they desperately roll out some 'new and innovative' Italian product and marketing scheme. I personally like their wings more than anything.

My personal favorite pizza joint is Brooklyn's Best, we haven't ordered PJohns, PHut, PInn (are they still around), or Doughminos in years. Anyone remember Godfather's pizza? They were pretty good back when. Mama's in Fort Worth, too. Tried the Mama's in Mansfield hoping it would be as I remembered, but it wasn't.
